The Beginning: Fall of Jalal Empty

For thousands of years, the Yuan-ti and humans have been at a war with each other. The humans feared the snake people because they did not understand them, and the Yuan-ti fought back, confused as to why they were hated such. The humans kept them at bay, driving them further and further into the jungles and swamps. Rather than be defeated though, the Yuan-ti withdrew and cultivated their hatred, plotted the demise of the human race.

About 300 years ago, the Kingdom of Jalal was ruled by King Marten. The King was not kind, but not cruel; not good, but not evil. In fact, there was nothing noteworthy about this king at all. He had no claim to fame, nothing that should even have his name remembered. When mentioned, it is only to talk about his son, Prince Roderick, who killed his father and doomed his kingdom.

At 18 years of age, after the king had been found dead next to his wife in the Royal Bedroom, the prince brought the people of Jalal to an audience. He stood in front of them, and as the people looked upon him, he sheds his skin revealing a Yuan-Ti. “I AM NAFARU. I AM YOUR RAJAH!” At this cry, Yuan-Ti flooded the city and took over the Kingdom, slaughtering everyone inside the walls. The few humans that remained became slaves to the snakes.

No one knew what had happened, where the true Prince Roderick was, or how the Yuan-ti came to look like the young prince. Nor did it matter. The events of that day spread a fire throughout the world. Monsters who also had been wronged by the Races of the Light - the dwarves, the elves, the eladrin, and the humans - quickly gathered forces under the Yuan-ti Nafaru and declared war. And somehow they won, united under a common front.

Within 100 years, the humanoid races and any that resembled them were driven nearly to extinction. The few that exist lead miserable existence as slaves, or hiding in the mountains always on the run.

All seemed to be good for the ones in charge.
